Veteran nine-year-old Hightimeyouwon (1/1fav) has long since outgrown his name and today claimed a ninth career success in Dundalk’s Floodlit Fridays At Dundalk Claiming Race, and subsequently went unclaimed for €14,000.

Successful on his previous start on January 29, Hightimeyouwon today raced behind the leaders under Jack Kearney and eventually quickened well to beat Comfort Line by 1.25 lengths.

Winning trainer Stephen Thorne, who also supplied third-placed Shoot To Kill reported “we told Jack to ride him as he found him but he had employed hold-up tactics the previous night so did something similar. He was mindful that there might be one or two that might go off quick.

"The race ended up in two halves early-on, so it looked hard work at the top of the straight. It didn't look like he would get there but he ground it out.

"His class is above these but, unfortunately, there is no programme for this horse coming up. There's limited races and limited opportunities for him and we also know he doesn't operate as well on turf, so said we’d just take advantage of this race.

"If we lose the horse, very best of luck to the next man and he has been a super servant.”

Regarding Shoot To Kill, he added “he missed the break on us last week, so we were starting him back in claiming company to get a bit of confidence back into him. He has run well and, if he is claimed, the very best of luck to the next man. They are both solid, sound horses who will do their jobs."

No horses were claimed following the running of the race.
