Hogan hoping Byron spot on for Haydock Tom Hogan expects Gordon Lord Byron to be 100% for a fourth crack at the Betfred Sprint Cup at Haydock next week after a below-par performance at the Curragh. The County Tipperary trainer reports his stable star to have needed some physiotherapy treatment following his third place in the Renaissance Stakes last weekend. However, Hogan has been pleased with the seven-year-old's progress and all roads point to Merseyside where Gordon Lord Byron has been in the first two in the last three runnings of the six-furlong Group One. "He probably ran 7lb or 8lb below par. He was quite stiff on Sunday morning. He just struggles with the undulations on the Curragh especially when they race on the far side," Hogan told At The Races. "He's had a couple of physio sessions. He was good this morning, so hopefully we'll get him spot on for Haydock. Those level tracks suit him better. "He's contested that race three times, all on different ground. He was second the first time he ran in it behind Society Rock on firm ground. "He won with some ease in it and was second again last year when there was a bit of ease in it. He'll run well again hopefully."
