Hughes believes Toronado will bounce back Richard Hughes has lost none of his faith in Toronado despite the colt's defeat in Saturday's QIPCO 2000 Guineas. The jockey was exuding confidence going into the Classic but the Craven Stakes winner could only finish fourth behind Dawn Approach, weakening in the final furlong. However Hughes insists there were excuses, telling Racing UK: "I still believe he's one of the best I've ever ridden. He coughed a lot after the race so I know he's not quite right. I knew halfway I wouldn't win while in the Craven it was how far would I win. "They felt like two different horses. He wasn't right on the day but if I believe in a horse I stick with them. I can only go on feel and I know he's a good horse. He won't let me down, I know he'll bounce back."
