Richard Hughes has been given the job of partnering last year's winner Sole Power in the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot on Tuesday.

Johnny Murtagh was on board when Edward Lynam's consistent sprinter struck 12 months ago, while Ryan Moore has been in the plate for the seven-year-old's three runs this campaign, most recently when landing the Palace House Stakes at Newmarket.

Moore is required for Ballydoyle, though, and Lynam said: "It's a good race. Richard Hughes rides him as Ryan has to ride one for Aidan (O'Brien). Richard is a top-class jockey.

"He's in good form and we just hope Ascot don't water too much."

Leading French rider Olivier Peslier will take over from Hughes on Pearl Secret. Owners Qatar Racing announced on Thursday morning that Hughes had been booked for the David Barron-trained sprinter, with retained rider Jamie Spencer siding with ante-post favourite Hot Streak.

David Redvers, racing manager for Qatar Racing, said: "Richard initially came to us for the ride (aboard Pearl Secret), but has now decided to ride Sole Power. It's disappointing, but that's racing and Olivier Peslier will now ride Pearl Secret."
