Impek On Road To Recovery

Impek is set to return to Henrietta Knight's yard at the end of the week after undergoing treatment for a shoulder problem.

The 10-year-old had been due to run in the Peterborough Chase but a muscle injury ruled him out of the Huntingdon event, won by stablemate Racing Demon.

Knight reports Impek to be making good progress and remains hopeful that the Jim Lewis-owned gelding, who won Exeter's William Hill Gold Cup on his reappearance, will be fit for the Stan James King George VI Chase.

'He's on a course of swimming at the moment and the people at the health hydro he is at tell me he's a very good swimmer,' she said.

'He's nearly sound and hopefully he won't have lost too much fitness as he has been swimming twice a day.

'He's coming back to us at the end of the week to get back in full work so we will have to see how we go.'

Impek is currently as low as 10-1 with Ladbrokes for the Boxing Day feature at Kempton.
