Jim Bolger's Dawn Hoofer relished her first appearance on the Polytrack at Dundalk with a game victory in the featured Irish Stallion Farms EBF "Red God" Handicap.

The three-year-old filly travelled ominously well for Kevin Manning and, once given the office, grabbed the lead over a furlong out.

The 4/1 joint favourite looked vulnerable to the closers inside the final furlong but toughed it out well to repel strong-finishing Nimitz (14/1) by a neck. Tennessee Wildcat completed the placings a length away in third at 20/1.

Kevin Manning said: “She’s thriving on racing. She’s tough and consistent and never puts up a bad show.

"She took to the surface well and it was a great result.”

This was Dawn Hoofer's fourth victory of a busy summer. In addition she has been placed four times since June.
