Invictus Machin heads McManus team for Connacht National Gavin Cromwell is hoping Invictus Machin can put his best foot forward in the feature at Roscommon this evening, the Tote Connacht National Handicap Chase. One of four JP McManus-owned horses set to take part, the seven-year-old was in front when making a bad mistake at the last at Limerick in March, eventually going down by just a head. Twice successful from 16 starts, the 126-rated French bred will be partnered by Paddy O'Brien, who has already ridden five winners so far this season. "He seems in good form at home. The trip and track should be fine," Cromwell reported. "Paddy claiming the seven off him will hopefully give him a chance. "I hope the rain comes as he's a big horse. Hopefully it will be fine." Brazil, Mica Malpic and Donkey Years are the other McManus representatives in this competitive affair, with the likes of Slane Hill and Beggars Rock sure to be popular with punters.
