Irish Champions Festival date all but ruled out for Celeron Celeron is unlikely to take up his entry in the Group 1 Goffs Vincent O'Brien National Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday week. Michael O'Callaghan’s exciting juvenile recorded a three-length success in the Group 2 Gain Railway Stakes at the Curragh in the middle of July but was found to be lame after finishing down the field in the Group 1 Keeneland Phoenix Stakes at the same course earlier this month. O’Callaghan reported, “Celeron starts back riding out on Monday (today). He’s recovered quite well and luckily it wasn’t anything too serious but he just needed a couple of easy weeks. “We’ll get him back into a routine and make a plan from there.” When asked if his entry in the Group 1 Goffs Vincent O'Brien National Stakes at the Curragh on September 13 would be a bit soon, O’Callaghan added, “Yeah, it’ll will. We haven’t discussed any of that with the owners yet but I think in my own mind that it’s only a couple of weeks away and he’s had a couple of weeks off since the Phoenix Stakes. “We’ll get him back into full training and we’ll go from there.”
