Irish Horse Racing Awards There will be two new prizes at this year´s Irish Horse Racing Awards, which are voted on by members of the Irish racing media and will be presented on Monday, November 29th.Racehorse of the Year and an Industry award, which will recognise an individual´s ´outstanding contribution´ to the industry, are the two new prizes.All award winners will be recorded in the Irish Racing Yearbook 2005, which will be launched at the Irish Horse Racing Awards.The awards, designed to recognise and celebrate excellence in the sport of horse racing, will cover six categories:- ? Racehorse of the Year ? Outstanding Achievement ? Flat ? National Hunt ? Point-to-Point ? Contributions to the Industry Brian Kavanagh, Chief Executive of HRI said, ´It is appropriate at the end of each year to recognise and promote the outstanding achievements within our sport. HRI is pleased to be associated with these awards and with the Irish Racing Yearbook. Even at this stage I do not envy the media their task.´Mark Costello, Editor of the Irish Racing Yearbook, said, ´The inaugural presentation of these awards last year was very well received. As the initial recipients included Barry Geraghty, Paddy Mullins and Dermot Weld, this year´s winners have a lot to live up to.´
