Locally-based Eoin McCarthy was leading trainer at Listowel’s harvest festival this week with six successes, while Gary Noonan secured the riding honours with four wins.

Divided into National Hunt and Flat categories and sponsored by Connolly’s Red Mills, McCarthy’s successes came over jumps and saw him finish two ahead of Wille Mullins while Joseph O’Brien was leading Flat trainer with three wins.

Athea-based McCarthy, who best career tally was 13 wins achieved in the 2022/23 season, also helped Gary Noonan in being leading National Hunt jockey with four wins.

Flat jockeys Dylan Browne McMonagle and Wayne Lordan both registered two winners while the Tote Ireland-sponsored leading apprentice-award was won by Robert Whearty, also on two.

John Gleeson was the MIG Group-sponsored leading amateur jockey for the week, with two wins.
