Jer's Girl could step up in trip Jer's Girl is likely to be stepped up in trip after finishing fourth in the Istabraq Hurdle at Tipperary on Sunday. Gavin Cromwell's dual Grade One-winning hurdler, owned by JP McManus, made a successful reappearance in a Flat race at Roscommon and turned out just six days later at Grade Three level. The five-year-old was beaten a little over five lengths into fourth place by the McManus-owned former Champion Hurdle hero Jezki, and Cromwell was satisfied with his star mare's performance. "She ran a really good race and seems to have come out of it fine," said the Navan-based trainer. "Maybe we need to step her up in trip now and, in hindsight, maybe it came a bit quick after Roscommon, too. "We were delighted with her in Roscommon. It was a nice return. "We don't have any definite plans for her at the moment. "The handicapper has put her up 3lb for the run on Sunday, which I thought was very harsh. And they wonder why they can't get decent fields in these races."
