Johnson gets call up for Jer's Girl at Aintree Richard Johnson has been booked for Jer's Girl in the Betfred Remembers Howard Kendall Fillies' Juvenile Hurdle at Aintree on Saturday. Johnson, perennial runner-up to Tony McCoy, looks sure to land his first UK title barring injury this season and appears to have picked up another good ride. After only two runs on the level, trainer Gavin Cromwell sent Jer's Girl hurdling and she ran out a well-backed winner at Limerick. The aim now is to pick up some black type in the Listed contest over two miles. "She'll definitely be coming over and I think she's improved for her first race," said Cromwell. "She'll have had to, as I don't think that was a great contest and this is obviously a step up in class. "But she's progressed. It was only the third race of her life, although she jumped like an old hand. "The softer the ground the better for her as she loves the mud. "If the race cuts up, then I'd be very disappointed if she couldn't pick up any black type, though obviously I hope she wins. "It looks a good opportunity and Dave Roberts (jockeys' agent) rang me to tell me Richard Johnson was available to ride. "His style will suit her, she likes to be ridden positively."
