Kalanisi Star (11/2) ran out a wide-margin winner of the 'Doc's Bumper' Point-To-Point Flat Race.

Bought for £65,000 in December just after winning his second start in point-to-points at Corbeagh House, Johnny Barry’s mount kept close tabs on 4/9 favourite Monbeg Park who made the running. The pair turned for home locked together but the favourite was first to come off the bridle and Kalanisi Star went on over a furlong from home. Monbeg Park was soon running on empty as the winner went away to score by sixteen lengths.

Winning trainer Oliver McKiernan said: "We weren’t sure coming down here. He’d done a few bits at home and he seemed to be going all right.

“He’s a very relaxed horse and we said we’d have a go at a point-to-point bumper.

“He was green but he picked up well on the heavy ground. That will probably be it for this season.”
