After a few turn-ups on Saturday's card, Katie Daniels (33/1) was another good result for the layers in the second race at Fairyhouse on Sunday which was the Cawley Furniture Novice Handicap Hurdle over two miles, four furlongs.

Fitted with a tongue-tie for the first time, the Walk In The Park mare had won a maiden hurdle on the inner track here in November.

Ridden by Ben Harvey in the colours of Barry Logan, she led on the approach to the straight before being headed by Royal Soldier two out. The eventual winner was rallying but still half a length down when Royal Soldier crashed out at the last, leaving the seven-year-old to come home seven lengths in front of Sticwiththeprocess

That was great. I thought she was well handicapped on her maiden hurdle form, but she just lost her way,” said winning trainer Cian Collins.

“She’s been working very well for the last couple of weeks, so we were expecting a big run from her today.”

On the faller at the last, he added “She wasn’t finished with, there was definitely more as she stays well. She won a point-to-point.

“She loves Fairyhouse, a flat track. Ben gave her a brilliant ride, he knows her well and gets on with her.

“I’m delighted for Ben as he’s a massive part of our yard. He rides all the work and schools all the horses. He’s brilliant.

“She’ll probably go to Punchestown. It was great to get that today on a big weekend. I’m delighted.”
