Kempton confident ahead of King George meeting Kempton officials remain confident their high-profile St Stephen's Day fixture will go ahead as scheduled with temperatures due to rise in the coming days. The undoubted highlight of the two-day meeting is the William Hill King George VI Chase, in which Kauto Star will be bidding for a remarkable fourth consecutive success. Clerk of the course Barney Clifford reports conditions to be perfectly raceable at present and sees no reason why that should change. "We're in great shape. We had 10mm of precipitation here on Monday in various forms - rain, sleet and snow,'' Clifford told At The Races. "We are raceable this morning under the covers and got down to minus one in the early hours of this morning. The forecast is for temperatures of two degrees today and probably back down to minus two tonight." "A band of rain may be going to push through on Thursday morning and we are forecast for temperatures to rise there after. Hopefully the forecast is correct, but they have been correct for the last 10 days so I have no reason to doubt them." "I don't anticipate any problems, and we're really looking forward to a fantastic two days of racing.''
