Kennedy and Elliott fire in treble via electric Romeo Coolio Romeo Coolio was undoubtedly impressive in giving Gordon Elliott a ninth Grade 1 Drinmore Novice Chase at Fairyhouse. The former Grade One-wining hurdler won a beginners' chase on debut in Down Royal at the end of last month, but only got to jump seven fences due to low-lying sun. He still went off 8/15 favourite for this top-level assignment and jumped from fence to fence for Jack Kennedy while racing predominantly in third in the early part of the race. He tracked Raffles Dolce Vita with fully eight fences to jump and went past the new leader Ol Man Dingle two out. The Kayf Tara gelding tanked clear from toiling rivals before the last and jumped it notably nimbly on his way to winning by a far from extended eight lengths over Gold Dancer (10/3). Jack Kennedy said: "He's unreal! Delighted with him. "Jumped brilliant, probably could have done with even going half a stride quicker the whole way around. "Travelled very well and never missed a beat. He got in tight to a couple, but it was more me trying to restrain him than anything. "He's as quick as lightning (jumping), he's unbelievable. "He's after growing up an awful lot. He was very keen early on in his career. He's a lot simpler to ride now. "Exactly (chasing is his game)." Elliott said: “That was brilliant, he was good. We always knew chasing was going to be his game and we’re absolutely thrilled. “It’s just one of those days, the horses are absolutely flying and we’re absolutely delighted. “Obviously, with Cheltenham you have two or three (miles). We could also come back here at Easter or go to Aintree, there are loads of options. “The one thing Jack did say is that he wouldn’t be afraid to bring him back to two (miles) off a real fast pace, the way he jumps. “There is no decision that needs to be made today, we’re going to enjoy it and see what happens.” When asked if Leopardstown was a possibility over Christmas, he added: “Everywhere is open now, we could even end up in Kempton. We’ll keep all options open. We’ll dream about everything. “I’ll never forget when the two Dave's (KTDA Racing) came to me at the start, the one thing they said was that they’d love to have a horse for the Champion Chase. Whether he’s quick enough for that, I don’t know, but we’ll dream in every direction and see what happens.” Elliott and Kennedy enjoyed their third winner on the card following on from Mange Tout (11/8) and Koktail Brut (8/13f). The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident after the second last fence involving Captain Cody, ridden by H. Cobden, placed third, and Ol Man Dingle, ridden by R.A. Doyle, placed fifth, where it appeared there was contact between the two. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. H. Cobden stated that his mount was jumping right and he felt he had the horse to go by when he went down the inner. He added that his mount did not pick up as anticipated. R. A. Doyle stated that he maintained his line but his mount had run his race and rolled around slightly. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found H. Cobden was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly and having considered his record in this regard (first offence) the Raceday Stewards suspended H. Cobden for two race days. Paddy Power cut Romeo Coolio from 9/1 to 6/1 for the Arkle and made him 12/1 from 33/1 for the Brown Advisory. Additional reporting by Gary Carson
