John Ryan has his team in tremendous form at present and is eyeing a tilt at the Guinness Kerry National at Listowel in September with Waitnsee after the mare went close at Kilbeggan last Friday.

The Templemore trainer is still contemplating what might have been after the saddle slipped in the closing stages on Danny Mullins’ mount when beaten three quarters of a length by The Big Lense in the €75,000 AXA Smart Farm Insurance Midlands National.

Ryan, who is already just one short of his seasonal best tally, said: “She was unlucky at Kilbeggan as the saddle slipped.

“She loves that better ground and she’ll go for a 3m1f handicap hurdle at Ballinrobe and then have a crack at the Kerry National.

“She has a lovely hurdle mark so we’ll run her over hurdles as we did before Kilbeggan and then she won’t run again until the Kerry National.”

The seven-year-old mare recorded the latest of three career wins when taking the Grade 3 BARONERACING.COM Chase at the Cork Easter meeting.

Ryan's yard continues in great form with a near 21/1 double at Limerick on Saturday via Grange Walk and Galway Blazers-bound Fairyhill Run putting him on the 14-winner mark for the current campaign - just one behind the total he achieved both last season and in the 2016/17 campaign.
