Kid comes good in first time tongue tie Goldrush Kid just held on in a thrilling finish to the Download The Tote App Handicap at the Curragh. Paddy Magee’s charge was supported from 12/1 into 6/1 for the mile contest and was driven into the lead over a furlong from home by Jack Kearney. The Unfortunately gelding had to hold the late charge of Narlita to secure a head victory and record his first career success. Goldrush Kid was returning to the Flat having had three runs over hurdles during the winter. Magee said:- “I have to give a good bit of credit to Eoin Walsh who told me to put a tongue tie on him the last day in Fairyhouse when he ran over hurdles.   “Eoin felt he went really well to a point and took a big heave. We knew it wasn’t fitness and he’s not a horse that makes a noise.   “He had some good form as a two-year-old and last year he got beaten in claimers and we thought he was a bit better than that.   “He has come to himself in the last couple of weeks and the tongue tie helped.   “He’ll go back over hurdles, and I think he’ll stay. He jumps really slick, but he hasn’t been getting home and maybe the tongue tie is the difference.” (Quotes by Alan Magee)
