Kiely rides first winner, for Kiely

Seventeen year old amateur jockey David Kiely partnered his first winner, on his first ride, at Cork today, winning on Candy Creek for his unrelated trainer John Kiely.

The daughter of Definite Article was held up by Kiely before making progress on the outer in the straight, eventually getting to the front over a furlong out for a four length win over Raise You Ten

The win was the first racecourse ride for Kiely, who had previously ridden in three point to points and hails from Stradbally, Co Waterford.

Winning trainer John Kiely later mentioned "I was a little concerned about the tacky ground for Candy Creek but she handled it well."
