Trainer Vincent Halley is targeting the Kinloch Brae Chase at Thurles with stable star Arctic Skipper.

The eight-year-old claimed a shock Grade Two victory in the Fortria Chase at Navan on his penultimate start, getting the better of Gilgamboa by a short head.

He stepped up in class and distance in the Lexus Chase over the festive period, but finished down the field.

Halley said: "He has come out of the race well. Ideally he would have liked the ground softer.

"I thought he jumped great, but he would just probably like it a little bit softer. He is a soft ground horse. Obviously it was a very good race with plenty of strength and depth.

"Depending on how he is, he will probably go for the Grade Three (Kinloch Brae) at Thurles on January 19th. We will see how he gets on there before making any further plans."
