Local jockey Cathal Landers completed a double at Limerick today, receiving praise from winning trainer Ross O'Sullivan as he completed the feat on Royal Recital in the Bruff Handicap Hurdle.

Landers was successful on the Andy Slattery trained Whosgotyanow in the half-hour earlier mares' hurdle and doubled up on the ex-Slattery trained Royal Recital, which today improved on two recent runner-up efforts when beating Master Cornwall

O'Sullivan later reported “I was worried a little about the ground but Cathal Landers walked the ground yesterday and said Val (O'Connell, Clerk of the Course) was doing a very good job on it and it was in great nick.

“In fairness Cathal knows the horse for a long time and has done a lot of work with the horse, a lot of schooling, and deserves all the credit.”

He added: "It is a Laois contingent of owners and the horse has got better with every run. He has a bit of size, will jump a fence and handles good ground really well.”
