Leave Him Alone dominates his rivals

Leave Him Alone landed a cosy three lengths victory in the two mile maiden hurdle for Mallow-based trainer Kevin O’Sullivan and jockey Davy Russell.

The 11/8 favourite was uneasy in the market having drifted from an opening offer of evens, but Russell allowed him to creep into contention approaching the straight and he scooted clear after the last to shed his maiden tag in style.

Kevin O’Sullivan said: “It wasn’t a great maiden hurdle. We’ll look for a winners of one and see what happens.

“He won his bumper on good ground and his point-to-point on heavy so we have options with him. I think he’ll be better over two-and-a-half miles.” Tynaghs Trooper took the runner-up spot at 8/1 while Lough Coi was a head further back in third at 33/1. Milborough on debut for Charles Byrnes, ran a noteworthy race to keep on for fourth at 12/1.

Well-backed Dont Tell The Boys (morning price of 7/1 into an SP of 4/1) spoiled his chance by running out on the bend.
