Mick Halford is hoping Dabadiyan may develop into a St Leger type after opening his account at the Curragh on Sunday.

The giant three-year-old relished the step up to a mile and a half and the chance to run on a fast surface.

A step up to Listed company is now on the cards for his next start and a good performance there could see him follow the route taken by Massiyn last season.

"He's a lovely, big, scopey horse," said Halford.

"He had a good comeback run where he had a bad draw and was forced to go round everything and he'd come forward from that.

"We'll take it just one step at a time but he'll probably run in the Lenabane Stakes at Roscommon on July 8th next.

"We were second in it last year with Massiyn and he went on to be just touched off in the (Irish) Leger, so that might be something we think about further down the line."
