Despite looking as though she had plenty to find at the weights, the Eddie Lynam trained Beach Barbie belied odds of 20/1 when easily winning the opening Book Online At DundalkStadium.com Fillies Optional Claiming Race.

One of the lowest rated runners with a mark of 58, the four-year-old appeared to benefit for the step up in trip wearing first-time cheekpieces.

Tracking the leaders under James Ryan, Beach Barbie came through to head River Trieux and Purely over a furlong out before quickening clear for a four-and-a-half length win over Near Perfection .

Eddie Lynam said: "Off her mark she was getting the weight off the other horses. She was okay in except for Twomey's horse (Paddy, River Trieux).

"I should have upped her to seven (furlongs) before now. She had run so well over five and six, I stuck to that.

"The cheekpieces definitely sharpened her as well.

"We badly needed it; it is good to get one."

River Trieux was claimed by Varland Syndicate(Tom McDonagh) to be trained by Denis Hogan, while the winner, Beach Barbie, was claimed by Aileen Lynam to be trained by Eddie Lynam.
