Sunday's point to point and dinner/dance in aid of the JT McNamara Fund has raised €110,00 with that figure set to rise further in the coming weeks.

Ticket sales for the six race point to point, run by the Limerick Harriers, at Lemonfield, Crecora, Co Limerick raised in excess of €35,000 for the Fund while the dinner/dance later that night at Limerick Racecourse added €75,000, from the proceeds of a 62 lot auction.

Tommy Kelly, treasurer of the Stonehall Harriers Point-to-Point committee which organised the dinner/dance, stated “we are very grateful to all our sponsors, Dawn Meats, Limerick Frozen Foods and also to (the band) Shaun O'Dowd and Hanora who gave up a wedding to play for free on the night.”

“I'd also like to thank Limerick Racecourse and it's manager Russell Ferris who was a gentleman to deal with and the €75,000 figure for the auction is currently a conservative amount as more money is likely to be added to it in the next fortnight or three weeks.”
