Luimneach eases to success in Gowran Park finale The Conor O'Dwyer-trained Luimneach (7/2) was an easy-as-you-like winner of the Sign Up To Gavin Lynch Racing.com Handicap Chase for jockey Charlie O'Dwyer. Luimneach, who has been in terrific form this summer with success in Kilbeggan and a good second in Wexford, put in a nice performance, beating the 129-rated It's Bilbo by seven lengths. There was a chaotic start to the contest as Killeemore Lad and Drumgill both departed at the opening fence, making it into it a four-runner contest. The eye was always drawn to O'Dwyer, who eased to the front and, with two good jumps at the final two fences, cruised to success. Speaking after the race, trainer Conor O'Dwyer said: "He is a super horse to get and thanks to Dessie (McDonogh, previous trainer) as well, as he had all the hard work done. I just had to change a few things with him. "It's funny as, at home, he works unbelievably well and, obviously, with his name (translated to JP McManus' home county of Limerick), he must have been showing that as a young horse. His jumping has let him down at times, but he got into a lovely rhythm today. "I wasn't sure if stepping him up to the 0-130 grade was the right thing to do, but there was nothing else for him. The race fell apart with two fallers at the first, but you can only go and win. "He seems versatile ground-wise and, like a lot of those older horses, maybe a change of yard rekindles things a bit. In For The Night finished third here yesterday, also for JP, so they are two lucky horses for us to have." (Quotes from Tom Weekes)
