Lynam aims for Additional gains next season Sarah Lynam has put Additional away for the winter with a view to next year for the winner of this season's Habitat Handicap at the Curragh. The five-year-old gelding gave the trainer her first premier handicap success in that aforementioned race over six furlongs at the Curragh in May. He was subsequently unplaced over the minimum trip in the Rockingham at Headquarters the following month. "He hurt himself in the Rockingham and I had him back ready to run in the Bold Lad (at the Curragh in September), and he just gave himself a bang before that race so he couldn't run," the trainer said. "We were lucky because the ground went against him anyway. I think he wants nice ground. "I think there is another good run in him and I think he will be a fun horse for next year, so we are just giving him a break and we are going to concentrate on next year. I think there is another good handicap in him. "I wouldn't be against travelling him. He would probably need to win again to go up in the weights to be worth travelling away." Additional was runner-up in a valuable handicap on the all-weather at Lingfield for his former trainer Martyn Meade. Lynam bought the Night Of Thunder gelding at the Horses In Training Sale and he runs in the colours of her uncle John Lynam.
