Magnum Cor confirms debut promise at Roscommon Magnum Cor (1/1f) confirmed the promise of his Leopardstown run 12 days ago when landing Roscommon’s District Speciality Coffee Maiden under champion jockey Dylan Browne McMonagle. The son of Sea The Stars, owned by Polish-based Millenium Stud, had missed the break on his recent debut before powering home, and today raced prominently throughout and held on well to score by 1.75 lengths from Almazann . Kevin Blake, race planner for winning trainer Joseph O'Brien, stated "Everyone saw the promise of his first run and, while this track was never going to be perfect for him, he got across from a wide draw (in 15) and stuck his head out well. It’s good to get this out of the way, because a wide draw around here had a bit of a banana skin look about it. “He’s a backward staying type who is going to progress and get better with experience. We’ll look to go through the grades, hopefully, and it’ll probably take a little bit of time. “He was probably in the right spot, as they didn’t go quick, and the runner-up (Almazann) had to come from a bit further back. We met that runner-up in the past and he’s been finishing behind very good horses, so kept us very honest all the way to the line. “It was a good solid performance.” Quotes from Gary Carson
