Trainer Jonathan Sweeney's fine season continued when newcomer Barnahash Prince (8/1) took the concluding Ampion Ltd. Electrical And Testing (Pro/Am) Flat Race at Cork.

Sweeney's six-year-old by Yeats raced in mid-division in the two miles, three furlongs contest and made steady headway to lead approaching the straight, He was pursued on the run for home by Airds Moss and both horses ran around a fair bit as the winner kept on under hands and heels to score by a length and a quarter.

Carrying the silks of breeder Katheleen O'Connor, winning rider Mark O'Flynn, who has ridden two point-to-point winners, stated "We were quietly confident, but it was a big field so there were plenty of horses to take on. Nobody put pressure on me and Jon (Sweeney) told me to just enjoy myself.

"This is my local track, I'm from half an hour away in Glenville and this is unbelievable - money couldn't buy this!"

It was a winner on his first ride under Rules for O'Flynn.

Sweeney, based in Glannagaul Co Cork, has three runners in tomorrow's Irish Grand National.

This was his ninth winner of the campaign from just 40 runners.
