David Marnane has cut short Settle For Bay’s trip to Dubai after two below-par runs.
The Royal Hunt Cup winner headed to the Carnival with high hopes, but has beaten only five rivals in two races.
“We’re just not happy with him over there, so we’ll run some tests over the weekend,” said Marnane.
“He won’t run again over there. It’s not that he’s running terribly bad, but he’s certainly not running like he’s showing us at home.
“We’ll see what the tests say. He’s fine in himself, but there’s something not quite 100 per cent with him.
“There’ll be lots of races he can go for at home, but he’s slipping down to a mark he could be competitive off in a Hunt Cup again, so we’ll see.
“We’ll get him sorted out and then make a plan from there, we’ll get him home first.”
