McConnell to make late call with Game John McConnell is set to make a late call on whether to run Play The Game in the Willis Champions Juvenile Stakes at Leopardstown on Saturday. McConnell has declared the son of Lawman for the Group Three heat over a mile, but will wait to see how much rain falls ahead of the race. Play the Game has shown plenty of ability in two starts. After winning on his debut at Leopardstown in June, he was only beaten half a length by Waipu Cove in the Listed Canford Cliff Stakes at Tipperary last month. McConnell said: "He is in good form and I don't know which race he will run in yet. "Because of the 48-hour declarations I kind of had to declare him for Leopardstown. It all depends on ground, there is a lot of rain forecast so we will just play it by ear. "If we don't run in Leopardstown the Beresford (at the Curragh) is another option. I haven't spoken to his owner yet so we will see, I will probably know more on Friday. "We have freshened him up since Tipperary and he is ready to go. He probably doesn't want extremes in terms of ground."
