McCoy becomes Jump Jockey ambassador Former champion jockey AP McCoy has been announced as an ambassador of the newly-sponsored Stobart Jump Jockeys' Championship. McCoy, champion in all 20 seasons he rode as a professional, will work closely with Great British Racing and Stobart Group to help promote the current stars of the saddle. "After the great ride this sport has given me over the past 20 years, I'm delighted to have been asked to be an ambassador for the season," said McCoy. "I have been so lucky to share the weighing room with some fantastic personalities over the years and I'm really looking forward to helping promote the jump jockeys and highlighting what incredible athletes they are." One of his first tasks will be to help design a new trophy as the old one was decommissioned when he retired. McCoy won his first title in 1995/96 with 175 winners and retained the accolade until he retired in April. He was at his most prolific in 2001/02 when he rode 289 winners, breaking Sir Gordon Richards' record held since 1947.
