McCoy signs off at Fairyhouse Tuesday Galway Hurdle hero Thomas Edison is one of two mounts for Tony McCoy as the legendary jockey makes what is set to be his final competitive appearance in Ireland at Fairyhouse on Tuesday. McCoy will bring his glittering career to an end at some point in the next few weeks, potentially at Aintree on Saturday should he win the Crabbie's Grand National aboard Shutthefrontdoor. And after ruling out competing at the Punchestown Festival, Tuesday's card looks like being the last opportunity for Irish racegoers to see the brilliant rider in the saddle. Thomas Edison, who makes his first appearance since his Galway heroics last July, will carry top-weight in the Tote Festival Handicap Hurdle and trainer Tony Martin is hoping for a bold show. He said: "He's working well and seems in good form, so fingers crossed he'll run a good race and the two of them (Thomas Edison and McCoy) come back safe and sound, that's the main thing. "He's been off since Galway, but he's had a few racecourse gallops and he's plenty of work done, so we'll see what happens." Thomas Edison heads a 17-runner field that includes stable companion The Plan Man. Willie Mullins runs Lucky Bridle (Ruby Walsh) and Clondaw Warrior (David Casey), while after returning to the Flat at Cork on Monday, Joseph O'Brien goes jumping once more aboard his father Aidan's Draco. The most valuable race on the third and final day of the Easter Festival is the I.N.H. Stallion Owners European Breeders Fund Novice Handicap Hurdle Series Final, in which McCoy partners Rathpatrick for trainer Eoin Griffin. Griffin said: "The horse is in good order and gets in with a nice weight. "The soft ground will suit him, as long as it doesn't get too tacky, and I don't think stepping up to three miles will be any bother to him." Vedettariat heads the weights for the Mullins team, but with Walsh electing to ride stable companion Pleasant Company, who makes his debut for the yard, Paul Townend will ride the top-weight. Other interesting contenders include the Paul Nolan-trained Fine Article, Eddie Harty's pair Fletcher and Queens Wild and Noel Meade's duo Aengus and Heck Thomas.
