McCoy third in Sports Personality of the Year Tony McCoy had to settle for third place as Andy Murray was crowned BBC Sports Personality of the Year for 2013 in Leeds on Sunday night. Wimbledon champion Murray had been a long odds-on favourite for the title, with 18-times champion jockey McCoy the general second-favourite after bagging his 4,000th career success last month. However, McCoy, who won the title in 2010, had to be content with minor honours on this occasion as Welsh and Lions rugby union star Leigh Halfpenny claimed the runner-up spot.
