Ado McGuinness is hopeful of a big run from Go Athletico in today's Ladbrokes Ayr Gold Cup which is off at 3.35.

Oisin Orr takes the mount on the seven-year-old who landed the Scurry Handicap at the Curragh on his penultimate start in July.

That was Go Athletico's first success since winning a Group 3 at the same venue in September 2023 and he's drawn towards the stands' side in stall 22 for today's 180,000 Euro contest.

McGuinness stated: “He’s in very good form. Adam (Caffrey) is suspended but we have a good pilot.

“We have a good draw and hopefully he’ll run a big race. He’s off a nice mark (now rated 92) going back to his form of 18 months ago when he was 108.

“I don’t think it will get bottomless ground. On the easy side of good is perfect for him with a little bit of juice. It’s a great race.”

The ground at Ayr is described as soft this morning.
