Ado McGuinness saddled a double at Laytown yesterday and afterwards outlined running plans for his smart sprinter Go Athletico.

Formerly trained in France, the five-year-old was successful on stable debut when landing a Listed race at Cork in June. He has finished runner-up at the Curragh in both starts since, including when chasing home Sunday's Flying Five winner Moss Tucker in the Group 3 Phoenix Sprint Stakes last month.

McGuinness was rueful about his decision to swerve running in Sunday's Group 1 contest and is now pointing his charge towards the Prix de l'Abbaye on the 1st of October.

"I don't really want to bring up that subject!," quipped the Lusk handler.

"We took him out (of the Group 1 Flying Five) last Tuesday because the ground was too quick. When I saw the ground on Sunday, I left the Curragh a very disappointed man.

"We are going to rock on to the Abbaye with him. He is in great form and he worked super up the Curragh yesterday.

"The form is in the book and I'm looking forward to running him.

"The only thing is a wide draw in Longchamp is a disaster and I just pray to God with Go Atheltico that can we get a nice low draw with him for the Abbaye, and I think he will run a massive race."

When asked about his smart juvenile Tiger Belle, last seen winning the Group 3 Prix d'Arenberg over the five-furlong trip of the Abbaye at ParisLongchamp, he said: "She'll go to the Breeders' Cup.

"At this stage, it is probably 70/30 she will go to America (instead of the Abbaye).

"Longchamp is a very lucky place for me so far!"
