Meade bides his time with Chelsea Lad Martyn Meade is to adopt a patient approach with Chelsea Lad after ruling him of action for the foreseeable future with injury. The three-year-old had been on course to make his next start in the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot after winning at Newmarket last month. Those plans were shelved by the Newmarket handler after it was discovered the son of Clodovil had pulled a muscle during his victory on the Rowley Mile. Meade said: "He unfortunately got bumped at Newmarket and in doing that pulled a muscle. It is a shame that he had to miss the Britannia as everything had come right for him with the ground. "It was quite a rough race and he got knocked twice. Any other horse would have stopped and it would have been easy for him to do that "He will be back between the middle and end of the season. He is a nice horse and we will take our time with him as we don't want to over do it with him." Meade believes there is still more to come from sprinter Aclaim despite his failure to feature in handicap company at York, having previously finished third in a Group Three event at Naas. He added: "Although he won on soft ground at Newmarket, he probably doesn't want it as soft as it was at York. He didn't get a clear run at all so you can just put it down to a bad day at the races. "We might try to find something at Goodwood or York for him, as that run was not representative of him as circumstances went wrong. I know he is much better than that."
