Review CLONMEL 7th Feb

Cooldine looks set to bypass Cheltenham after a convincing performance in the novice hurdle at Clonmel on Thursday.

Ruby Walsh soon had his mount in front and pulled clear of his rivals down the home straight for a 28-length success.

"We'll have a look at the Thurles race (Grade 2 Michael Purcell Memorial Novice Hurdle) for him now and I'd be keen to go there," said trainer Willie Mullins.

"He likes the underfoot conditions here and the Cheltenham ground might be a bit lively for him even though he ran well in the bumper there last year. He could go to Fairyhouse and Punchestown."

The Kilcash Chase had plenty of incident but Arteea ran out a cosy winner in the end after being left clear by Foreman's mistake at the last.

The Red Mills Chase at Thurles could be next on the agenda and trainer Michael Hourigan said: "He has just come right in the past fortnight.

"He ran a cracker over hurdles in Liverpool but ran no race at Punchestown after. In the past 10 days he has been working very well and I thought today was his day."

Davy Russell produced Forgivememaria with a well timed run to land the mares novice hurdle for Tom O'Leary.

Step Outside repelled the late challenge of Young Milly to take the opening maiden hurdle while French Thyne ran out a cosy winner of the hunters chase for Northern visitor Ian Ferguson.
