Review TRAMORE 1ST JUN

Mick Darcy rode a treble to create the main news from Tramore. The combined odds of the trio were 119/1 and the Galway-native set the ball rolling on an Eamonn Sheehy-trained runner.

Three times a winner on the level for Tommy Stack, all of that success coming over seven furlongs or less back in 2005, Enfield Chase realised E23,000 at the 2006 Goffs Autumn Sales.

He had three starts over flights for Dusty Sheehy last winter and on his reappearance from a 146 day break in the opener, the son of Foxhound justified 2/1 favouritism in the hands of Darcy.

He made all, and despite tiring, the 6yo had the race in safe keeping when overcoming a bad final flight blunder, the short run-in helping him to cling on by 3L from Rugged Jem.

Darcy doubled his score an hour later on Ehsan for James McAuley. This easy-to-back 4/1 chance was providing the trainer with an initial winner.

Another hour on, the hat-trick was complete. Course and distance winner, Tawrific Laois landed the h'cap chase over the minimum trip for Seamus Fahey.

Goodnight Dick had a place in the memory of racegoers for his antics at this course (running out when in front two out) and at Bellewstown (completed a circuit after a false start) last year.

Then under the care of Eoin Griffin, racing in the Kazal colours of Joe Comerford, Liz Doyle has now had charge of the Luso gelding for his last four outings and he struck lucky for her on attempt five in the 6.10.

A half-brother to the course bumper victor, Littlejimmybrown, Goodnight Dick came out on top under Shay Barry by 3 1/2L from Golden Domer. This h'cap hurdle featured 8/1 co favourites of four.

The other h'cap hurdle saw Puckane get his trainer, Roger McGrath, off the mark under Rules. This point-to-point winner showed good reserves of stamina to triumph by a length with Martin Ferris up.

Maree Prince, a half-brother to Petertheknot, made a winning chase debut for Adrian Maguire and Michael O'Connor in the 8.10. The ex-Donie Hassett-trained gelding had disappointed over hurdles.

O'Connor was deputising for Niall Slippers' Madden, stood-down for the evening following a fall from Jam Roll in the opener. Maree Prince gave an exhibition of fencing to scoot in by 10L.

Hip Bohn and Aidan Fitzgerald (he was without the aid of stirrups in the closing stages) got up to touch off Polly's Girl in the bumper. Paul Nolan's mare came out on top by a short head.

Fitzgerald, who rode 150 winners between the flags' and under Rules, afterwards announced his retirement. He now intends to concentrate on his breaking and pre-training business.
