Memory to get one more chance Memory's last chance to redeem her reputation will be in the Oak Tree Stakes at Glorious Goodwood. Richard Hannon's filly was a classy juvenile, winning the Albany at Royal Ascot and the Cherry Hinton at Newmarket. This season, however, she refused to leave the stalls with the other runners in both the 1000 Guineas and the Falmouth Stakes, with a satisfactory run in the Coronation Stakes in between. "Memory disgraced herself when refusing to come out of the stalls in both the 1000 Guineas and the Falmouth Stakes, but we feel that we must give her one last chance and the Oak Tree is the perfect race," said Hannon. "She has won at Goodwood and dropping back to seven furlongs will suit her as she has plenty of speed, but obviously our first priority will be to get her to start. "If she can win a Group race at three it would make an awful lot of difference to her value, but I have spoken with Harry Herbert, whose Highclere Thoroughbred team own the filly, and we agree that if she downs tools again at the gate that will be it as she would be banned for eight months or so. "We would take her back to Highclere and prepare her for the Tattersalls Sales at Newmarket, but let's hope she can redeem herself at Goodwood," the Wiltshire handler told his website.
