Miss Scott and Soumillon shine with Opera performance Christophe Soumillon showed once again there are few better jockeys on the big occasion when he partnered Miss Scott to victory in the Prix de l’Opera Longines. Trained by John and Thady Gosden, the three-year-old was the least exposed runner in the field and was arriving on the back of an easy Group Three win in Ireland. Riding his second Group One winner of the afternoon having teamed up with Joseph O’Brien to win the Prix Marcel Boussac on Green Empress in the same green and white stripes of The Thoroughbred Racing Corporation Ltd, he got first run on Ryan Moore on Precise and it proved pivotal. Thady Gosden said: “She’s a progressive filly, it was her first time in at the real deep end here after winning a Group Three at the Curragh last time out with Christophe on board. “The plan was to come here and give it a good go. Obviously Aventure is a top-class filly and we were a little bit scared of her coming into the race. “We were thinking we might step her up to a mile and a half next year. We’ll see how she comes out of the race, but we might put her away for next year. “She’s only a three-year-old filly and it’s quite late in the year. The only target left for her is the Breeders’ Cup, which might be a little bit much too soon.”
