Surpass And Shine landed a gamble in the Braham Electrical Handicap over six furlongs in Dundalk.

Pat Flynn's charge tracked the leaders for Robyn Donaghue-Leahy and picked it up after two furlongs.

The five-year-old gelding stayed on well in the final furlong to win by a length and three quarters at 4/1 having been 33/1 this morning. Sovereign Banter took second at 11/1 and was half a length up on The Cosy Corner (10/1).

Donaghue-Leahy said: "He has always worked like a nice horse. I suppose he has had a couple of setbacks. We gelded him.

"He has only had the one up here and he was third in a maiden, so we knew he handled the surface.

"He's down to a career-low mark.

"We planned to take our time, but he pinged them (gates) and he settled away in front so I thought I was just leave him there.

"You could see when a horse got to him, he only wanted to go on again. He did it the tough way and he did it well."
