Moore Takes Top Leger Ride

Sir Michael Stoute has confirmed Ryan Moore will ride Hard Top in the Ladbrokes St Leger at Doncaster on Saturday week.

The Darshaan colt is currently the 4-1 second-favourite with the sponsors after winning the Great Voltigeur Stakes at York last time on what was only his third career start.

Hard Top was partnered by Mick Kinane that day but with the Irish rider sidelined by a fractured wrist, Moore steps in for the ride.

Stoute, who is still seeking his first success in the Leger, told the Racing Post: 'Ryan Moore will ride Hard Top in the St Leger. He seems to have taken his race well but as I have said before, the St Leger is a boring race!'

Moore partnered Hard Top in his final serious gallop yesterday and he will be hoping to improve on his last place aboard Frank Sonata last year.

The 21-year-old added: 'I am very happy to have been given the chance to ride Hard Top in the St Leger. He is a very straightforward horse and I can´t wait for the race.'
