Morgan lands one-two and Murtagh bags double

Joanna Morgan saddled the first two home as Fourpenny Lane wore down San Sicharia in the final furlong of the Listed Cooley Fillies Stakes to give Johnny Murtagh a double at Dundalk.

San Sicharia had hit the lead under two furlongs out but had no answer when tackled by her stable-mate inside the final furlong.

Fourpenny Lane went on to score by half-a-length to justitfy 6/4 favourtism.

"It was a great performance by the both of them. They are two very sweet fillies," said Morgan.

"The other one (San Sicharia) might have needed it as she went home for a while.

"I've always rated her slightly better but the 5lb would have matched them up. I'm delighted with them.

"Paddy Twomey (owner) has been a great supporter of the yard and deserved that. Both are going to the sales so it's job done."

There was a sting in the tail for Murtagh who received a one-day ban for careless riding, concerning an incident early in the straight.

It rules him out of the last day of the season here on November 27th.
