Morning gains compensation Chanceawetmorning gained compensation for his last fence fall last time out when running out a convincing winner of the Christy ‘Frosty’ Callaghan Memorial Chase at Sligo this afternoon. Gordon Elliott’s charge had crashed out with the race at his mercy in Kilbeggan earlier this month and went to post a 2/1 shot. Jack Kennedy had him disputing throughout, with Straight Home, and he kicked on turning for home. The Snow Sky gelding went on to post a five length win over Le Coq Hardi. "He showed no ill effects from the fall at Kilbeggan. The few fences that we had, he went down to them, took them on and was very measured,” said Kennedy. "He's not the tallest, but is strong and well built. He probably wouldn't want it bottomless, but he's a nice prospect." Owner Conor McGlone added:- "I'm from Derry and have had two horses with Gordon since March. He's a top trainer, so it's great to be in the yard. “In fairness to Noel Kelly (previous trainer), he did well with the horses too. "Our other horse with Gordon is Apache Tribe. He's going chasing and will hopefully be out in November." There were only five fences in the two-mile-five contest, with the last three on each circuit taken out due to the sun.
