Moscow Flyer stroms home in Gold Medal

Moscow Flyer underlined his Cheltenham Arkle Chase credentials next March with a power-packed victory under Barry Geraghty in the featured Denny Gold Medal Chase at Leopardstown on Wednesday afternoon.

Sent off the warm 5/4 favourite, Jessica Harrington's gelding jumped impeccably for most of the journey and, despite getting in a bit close at the penultimate fence, still held the call from the chasing Just Our Job and Colonel Yeager.

In front after the third, he stayed on gallantly helped by another good leap at the last to comfortably hold market rival Youlneverwalkalone, who threw down his challenge on the run down to the last by two lengths.

Just Our Job, who blundered his chance away at the last filled fourth place just behind Colonel Yeager, who reportedly broke down early in the straight and will not race again this season.

'I'm exhausted after that,' said trainer Jessica Harrington, who added, ' he stayed and jumped well and he seemed to do it very easily. The plan was always to come back here for the Baileys Arkle before heading to Cheltenham in March.'

Moscow Flyer is as low as 7/2 favourite for the Guinness Arkle Chase at the Cheltenham Festival with Sean Graham and Cashmans best price 9/2.
