Mullins Bumper Update Willie Mullins has a couple more to run before finalising his Weatherbys Champion Bumper team. The Irish trainer has dominated the contest since its inception with Wither Or Which (1996), Florida Pearl (1997) , Alexander Banquet (1998), Joe Cullen (2000), Missed That (2005) and Cousin Vinny (2008) all taking the prize. Mullins has another strong hand this term with the likes of Sicilian Secret, Quinola Des Obeaux, Cadspeed and Quel Esprit all to the fore of the ante-post betting. Some strong support for Mullins' bid has seen Cashmans clip their odds on his winning the bumper from 4-5 to 4-7 and the County Carlow handler admits he still has one or two more contenders to assess. He said: "I've still got a couple more to run and then we'll see what's well and what is not well as they work over the next couple of weeks. "We have such talent in that department and any one of them in other years would have been good enough to go for it so I don't know as yet. "It is going be a big decision as to which ones I enter in it. "I've got more than six or seven that are as good as any of the horses that have won it in other years. It's incredible, I can't believe it and I've got some wonderful talent there. "I don't think it is as straightforward as the jockey bookings (in trying to sort a pecking order). Patrick (Mullins, son and jockey) is scratching his head and doing a lot of thinking at the moment. "I have my own little theories but then something comes out and does a nice bit of work that changes the complexion of the whole thing. "A lot of the French-breds seem to gallop all day whereas the Irish ones seem to have a bit more speed. "It will depend on the ground on the day as to which horses come more into focus and hopefully we'll have one for each eventuality. "Cadspeed came out at Gowran and cantered in heavy ground, Sicilian Secret has been doing plenty of good work at home, as has Glenlo Abbey," he told At The Races. "I don't know, it's going to be a toss of the coin on the day"
