Senewalk, ante-post favourite for the Supreme Novices' Hurdle before finishing only sixth at Punchestown on Saturday, may need a wind operation.

Willie Mullins is keen to get his breathing assessed as the highly-touted youngster went from travelling well to floundering in a matter of strides.

If he does need an operation, Mullins is minded to put him away until next season.

"I think I'll check his wind and I imagine he might need an operation because he went from travelling well to cutting out," the County Carlow handler told At The Races.

"There's no point in going any further with him.

"He'd been going well at home but on heavy ground it caught him out, unfortunately it's a winter game.

"Whether we'd get him back for the spring I don't know, if not we'll put him away for next season to save him as a novice."
