Well-bred Alright Darling (9/2f) gained a second career success in as many months today, landing Tramore’s Karl Casey Outstanding Contribution Award 2025 Handicap Hurdle for trainer Donie Murphy, the Lettermacaward Partnership and jockey Philip Donovan.

Out of an unraced sister to Gold Cup winner Lord Windermere, the six-year-old mare landed a Thurles handicap last month on her 12th career start, and afterwards escaped with just a 3lb penalty.

Placed third on a subsequent start at Gowran on November 8, the daughter of Walk In The Park today travelled strongly and won well from runner-up Pleasureofpreasure, who hung left on the run-in.

Murphy mentioned “she is improving. We were actually going to go for the beginners' chase here today, but she ran so well in Gowran that we decided to have another crack over hurdles.

“Today’s chase was for horses rated less than 100 and those races are scarce, so I was in two minds. If another one of them came up, I wouldn't mind running her in it as jumping is a strong point with her.

“I was worried when they took out the two hurdles in the straight (due to the low-lying sun) but she did it anyway. We might come back here with her on New Year's Day and might give her a break then. She likes this track and runs well here."
