Murphy aiming for Saturday return

Timmy Murphy hopes to be back in the saddle on Saturday after escaping serious injury in a tumble at Newcastle on Tuesday.

He got away with a sore and bruised shoulder after being catapulted from the saddle by Classy Chav at the final fence in the two-and-a-half mile handicap chase.

Murphy, who appeared to be kicked by another horse as he lay on the ground, was taken to Newcastle General Infirmary for X-rays. After being given the all-clear he was allowed home.

However, he is receiving physiotherapy treatment in a bid to aide his recovery.

"He's sore, but he's had some physio this morning and he'll be having some more," said Murphy's agent Chris Broad.

"I'm not sure yet where he will be riding at the weekend."
